SODIUM CARBONATE or Soda Ash Light, can be used as a reagent to produce sodium silicates, which have a whole range of uses. In paper manufacturing SODIUM CARBONATE can be added as a pH regulator.
SODIUM CARBONATE can be used in soaps and detergents as a builder, where it removes Mg and Ca ions from the water, and increases the alkalinity.
SODIUM CARBONATE can be used in conjunction with sodium hydroxide to raise the pH when water is slightly acidic. This is a good solution compared to neutralising filters, as it will not increase the hardness of the water.
